Started by the Music Genome Project, this site takes your favorite music and plays compatible based upon it. It does this through studying beat rates and tempo, mood, harmony and slight editorial input from those archiving it. I've gone to the site twice now and both times, the first thing it played were Leonard Cohen songs, so it seems to somehow detect your preferences off the bat (perhaps through iTunes). Otherwise - just enter one of your favorite artists.

Hi all.

As some of you may know, I've taken a job for the next few weeks in Stamford, CT. While some of you may be wondering how I'm holding up staying away in a hotel all that time, don't worry. Instead I make a daily commute including 3 subways, 1 metro-north train and a shuttle bus - resulting in 4+ hours travel for 8 hours work.

In order to keep me sane during this time, I have embraced the video capabilities of my iPod and the technology of internet syndication in order to line up a schedule of podcasts ranging from real news (ie. crisis in the middle east) to mtv news (ie. lance is gay). There are also some quirky bits that come through from less conventional sources.

With 4 hours of current affairs and pop-culture trivia being downloaded to my brain every day, I figured that I'd filter some of the best on to you. And so is born (for the time being or untill i get too busy or until i get too lazy) THE DAILY KOOK, a slice of fun e-mail list that you can't unsubscribe to - unless you get on my bad side.
